Home with Boden

This picture is a classic! Last Friday night Eli had a meltdown, wouldn't eat dinner and was freaking out to be on Adam's lap. I just had to catch this moment on film! Sometimes your Friday night ends up like this with a 19 month old and a newborn! lol

My Mom came to visit last Saturday and was a huge help! Just having her here to play with Eli and keep him entertained was lovely, she also got to cuddle up with the little love bug so Gma Neyda was quite happy! If you notice Eli is wearing his Husky sweatshirt here, he is a good luck charm! The Huskies won that night and as you know they are the national champions this year, we are one proud Husky family over here!

So today marks the week and half mark that I have been home with Bo and it has been lovely to snuggle with a newborn all over again! I realize how big Eli is now and wanting to do everything by himself (Eli loves to say "self" now when he does everything!). He simply doesn't have time to deal with me smothering him with kisses and hugs anymore! Luckily I have little Bo over here to snuggle with :)

Here are some observations from my first week and half with the little nugget:
1. Boden is a sleeper! He naps during the day and sleeps well at night I LOVE THIS! For a breastfed baby he is doing especially well in my opinion. I nurse allot during the day (I actually wake him lots of time to feed him!) but at night he goes 3.5 hr stretches consistently, that is WAY more than I got with Eli even at the 4-5 month mark. I truly hope Bo keeps this up! The little nugget doing what he does best - sleeping!

2. Boden doesn't have nearly the gas issues Eli had. He is able to get his burps up and I haven't had nearly the amount of explosive diapers yet that I had with Eli. Poor Eli was borderline colic and I could tell lots of his crying and lack of naps throughout the day was attributed to him being uncomfortable.

3. Bo can sleep very well almost anywhere so far - baby swing, baby chair, on the boppy pillow, bassinet in our bedroom, & even the pack n' play bassinet level he has napped in nicely. So overall I would say Bo is a much easier newborn to care for as compared to Eli. I can remember many nights where Adam and I had to try to console Eli when he was on hour #3 of crying thinking "this too shall pass". I just feel so bad Eli had to go through all that! Luckily he is a very happy toddler now - still not a huge sleeper though!

A few other observations of my time home so far -
1. Daytime T.V. is the WORST. I do like watching a few shows - mostly news in the AM and Regis & Kelly. I like to watch the Food Network otherwise, I feel like at least I am learning something and it gives me inspiration to try new things in the kitchen. This was my go-to channel while home with Eli as well. This is the one hard thing about nursing a baby you are kind of stuck on your butt for quite a bit in the first few months!
2. I have ants in my pants to get back in the swing of things when it come to working out. I took the first week very easy like the docs told me to do but I noticed at that 1 week mark I was up in the kitchen cooking again, doing laundry and back to my house work at the very least. Yesterday I was going to get out with the Bob Stroller because it reached 55 degrees here (which is my threshold for taking out the little one) but the tires were flat and the infant carrier adaptor wasn't on the Bob! So today the weather is very similar and we are going for our first walk!

I know running with Bo in the stroller won't be for a while (he needs to have full neck strength for that) but I do plan on getting out for my first "light" run this weekend if weather permits (hopefully a solo run too! If not I can always take Eli in the stroller). That's pretty much it from me on this end. I am truly enjoying every snuggle I have with Boden, the second time around I am just so much more relaxed than before. I feel like I am able to really enjoy every moment and soak it all in. Such a nice feeling!

And I got a picture with his eyes open!
